After going through the Herbalife and Amway experience myself, I am convinced that most of the people really don't know anything about the reality behind all the hype of affiliate and MLM Programs.

We can see small leaflets stuck on local trains all over the city-"Earn 15-20,000 sitting at home Free", "Work at home-housewives, unemployed, International Company, Free information"; there are many people who distribute pamphlets on crowded stations like-Andheri, Dadar saying 'Earn without leaving your present occupation" and nowhere they mention any Company name! They simply have a name and phone number!

Even in newspapers, open the classifieds section and read the "part time jobs" or "work from home" column and there will be many advertisements of "earn in your spare time"," work 1-2 hours from home/office/net", "enjoy American standard of living, part time job".

One of my College friends called up Miss Rupa, whose number was given in one such ad in Times of India Classified on Tuesday, 3 rd Oct. On enquiring about the part time job she was told, "it's a multinational company with presence in 75 countries and we are into health, nutrition, why don't you come down on Saturday at 3 pm to this address-" and the address was of Dadar where I had already attended herbalife meeting. My friend knew about the address so she directly asked if it was related to marketing herbalife products. Miss Rupa became very enraged and said, "Madam, herbalife is popular in every home, We don't need any marketing, its such a big company, we are not recruiting salesmen, it's a job which can be done by anyone, please come here and attend meeting, ok?" and slammed the phone down!

Last week, I also got a Spam email from one Miss Jaya asking me to join a new "part time job" giving only 1-2 hours everyday from home. I don't know how she got my email Id (maybe from the herbalife meeting I had attended more than a month ago and had given my email id for contact).

Anyway, I was intrigued and asked Miss Jaya about the program. She asked me to come for a presentation on Saturday 3 pm at Oshiwara, Near Lotus Petrol Pump. Without wasting further time, I asked upfront the name of the company and the job. She replied that it was a MNC spread in 75 countries. I asked her if there was any "registration fees" and what was the job. She replied, the admission fees for the presentation as only Rupees 20 and the rest of the information will be given there only. "It's a god sent gift", she said!

What kind of honesty can be expected from such people, their very intention is to cheat people. They never give out the name of the company in advertisements, they brand a business proposition as job, they take money in the name of "registration", they write "free job" in all pamphlets and tell you about the fees only at the end of meeting and then they also keep calling you everyday if you decide not to be a member!

I implore all job seekers to beware of such thugs who have only empty promises to offer.
